The two sites this project focuses on are the 27th & Brown and 30th & Brown blocks within the Washington Park neighborhood. These areas consist primarily of residential and industrial buildings. The intent of this project is to adaptively reuse the existing industrial and warehouse buildings to connect with the residential atmosphere by creating a linkage from the residential to the industrial. The primary was this is accomplished is through incorporating the program and layout of a residential space within the an existing industrial building. Through reusing these spaces it is intended that homeless individuals from the Washington Park neighborhood may find solace within these spaces. Many of these individuals live within these abandoned warehouses through revamping the spaces it will allow them to live in a safer less dilapidated environment. The open lots within this area will be reused to create space for homeless locals in the neighborhood as well.
